Serve

Every week, members of our congregation are serving with groups around Coles County and across the world.  We keep our eyes open, always looking for the next way God calls us to serve.  Check out our Getting Involved Tab to learn more about how you can serve with us.

Local Mission

Our congregation’s local mission activities include CROP Walk, the Charleston Area Food Pantry, Soup Stop, Coalition for People in Need, and Habitat for Humanity.  We support these projects with both volunteers and financial help.

National and Global Mission

First Presbyterian Church has a long history of mission involvement.  We provide wells in Malawi and anti-malaria nets for mothers and children in Africa.

We have sent mission teams to Mississippi, Baton Rouge, the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance distribution center in Little Rock, Arkansas, to St. Louis AMEN House, to Camp Carew and Kemmerer Village in Illinois.

We support small-scale, organic farmers across the globe through our use of Equal Exchange coffee at church events.

Presbyterian Women

Mission and service are the focus of many Presbyterian Women activities.  Marion Medical Mission, Church World Service, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Soup Stop, Charleston Food Pantry, Coalition for People in Need, Camp Carew, Kemmerer Village, and Habitat for Humanity all receive mission gifts from Presbyterian Women funds.
